40 Vintage Jan 1947 Coca Cola Bottle Pilaster Porcelain Sign A-M Original

This is an original vintage Coca-Cola bottle pilaster porcelain sign, made in January 1941 by Allen-Morrison Company (A-M) which was located in Lynchburg, VA. The sign is marked A-M 1-47 on the bottom front right corner. The Allen-Morrison Company made a majority of the signage in the United States before it closed in the 1970s, when much of the sign production moved to China.

The colors of this sign are vibrant and absolutely amazing! It measures 16 wide and 40.5 tall. It is a great size, not too small and not too big for display. These pilaster signs are cool, because they really show the style of the 1940s and 50s. It is in very decent condition overall.

I dont typically deal in signs, but I can give the details and as many photos as necessary to describe the sign. It has raised edges, which shows most of the rub wear. There are other wear in the form of scratches on the sign, as you can see in the photos.

There is no rust-through at all on the sign. One spot has light surface rust coloration where the porcelain paint was rubbed away down to the metal, but can be properly restored or left as is, whatever is desired. I personally think this sign looks great as it is and has such character.

The photos show the exact condition of the sign. The sign was not cleaned or restored, other than a lightly damp clean rag to get surface dust off for the photos. I want the owner to be able to clean and/or restore this sign as they feel appropriate.

After a quick wipe with the damp cloth, the sign looks amazing. This was recently found in an attic of a farmhouse in Michigan and has been stored there for almost 60 years. Once it went to the attic after being removed from the store, it was left there until I found it. It was finally brought out to see the light of day and belongs with a collector to enjoy and display.

If you are a serious collector, you know what this is and if you are new to collecting Coca Cola items, this could be a killer piece from the 1940s to add to your collection! These pilaster signs were usually used on the doorway entrances to pharmacys or at gas stations. These signs also had the Coca Cola red button sign affixed to the top of the pilaster sign, with a bracket. Grab it while its still available!!
