Vintage 1955 Drink Coca-Cola in Bottles Round Metal Sign 35 3/4 Diameter
Here is a very nice vintage Coke sign, being a large round metal disc with holes to hang this big piece up on a wall. This vintage sign was likely displayed around a fuel station, or possibly grocery store to advertise the drink. On the sign, it says "Drink Coca-Cola in Bottles" with the U.
Patent office marking as usual. On the lower edge is a marking that reads as: "R-6-55" Most likely a date code, pertaining to June of 1955. This sign has a domed center, with a multi-leveled rim.
It starts flat, steps up, then goes to the dome shape. This sign is quite large, measuring in at 35 3/4 inches in diameter, measured from the rear for the most accurate measurement. Condition overall is pretty good, with paint wear on the front of the sign. It looks as though a tree likely rubbed against this sign when it was hung, as there is a concentrated spot where most of the wear is, with a few splotches missing from the paint, and scratches present.
Normal aging of the paint is also present, with some lighter spots present on the outlines of the letters. Some mild rust has formed on the back of the sign, with a small bit showing up on the right side of the sign. The mounting holes looks to be in good shape, with no cracks or splitting present around them.
